Low Waste Living Workshop: Beeswax Wraps

Join Sunny Jar Eco Hub to learn about low waste living and how to make your own beeswax wraps, a plastic-free alternative to clingfilm.

Did you know it’s almost impossible to recycle cling film or sandwich bags? Why not try reusable versions to do your bit for the planet? Learn to make your own wrap/bags with beeswax, as a simple and easy alternative.

Beeswax wraps are a natural eco-friendly alternative to cling film and tin foil for wrapping food or covering bowls and jars. They help keep food fresh, are naturally anti-bacterial, can be reused, refreshed and are compostable. If you’re looking to reduce your carbon footprint, reduce waste to landfill and reduce chemical-laden plastic food packaging, then this workshop is for you.

Sunny Jar’s experienced facilitators will guide you step-by-step through choosing your fabric, application of the wax, setting, and maintenance. You’ll get to take home your own wrap suitable for a sandwich wrap or a snack bag. All materials are provided. Fabric will be available, however it is encouraged you to bring any fabric that can be upcycled (lightweight cotton recommended).

The BID is offering this FREE of charge to make the Northbank a better place to be and work and the activity will take about 1 hour.

We anticipate high volumes of interest for these workshops, register to avoid disappointment.
