The UK alone produces more than 170m tonnes of waste every year. The majority of household waste is plastic food packaging and food waste. While plastic has revolutionised the way we store and consume food, there is now so much plastic waste that it ends up in our environment, degrading into microplastics and making its way into the food chain.
For this low waste food special, we will share tips on how to grocery shop the Low Waste way. We will also demonstrate how to prepare quick and simple low waste snacks that reduce plastic waste and that are also good for you. You’ll also have the opportunity to taste and sample the food we prepare together.

The London Heritage Quarter is bringing an eye-catching festive mural wall to Charing Cross Station. Passers-by will be invited to pick up a pen and colour in sections numbered in correlation with a chosen colour. Each artist will be offered a free candy cane for their contribution. On-street security briefings take place on the third Thursday of the month at 11am in The Northbank. These briefings are for those with an interest in the safety and security of the area, particularly those working in security. Last month’s briefing focused on the new pedestrianised space, Strand Aldwych, and addressed security concerns such as phone snatching and theft.
