Low Waste Living Workshop: Low Waste Food
Have you tried to reduce the amount of plastic in your life? Want to learn some tips and tricks to reduce the waste in your bin?
The UK alone produces more than 170m tonnes of waste every year. The majority of household waste is plastic food packaging and food waste. While plastic has revolutionised the way we store and consume food, there is now so much plastic waste that it ends up in our environment, degrading into microplastics and making its way into the food chain.
For this low waste food special, we will share tips on how to grocery shop the Low Waste way. We will also demonstrate how to prepare quick and simple low waste snacks that reduce plastic waste and that are also good for you. You’ll also have the opportunity to taste and sample the food we prepare together.
We will cover:
- How to make a tasty vegetable stock made from scraps and peels
- Our ‘no-ordinary hummus’, with advice on how to make it better than shop bought!
- Easy and delicious oat energy balls
